Meet the Team
Dane Guarino, Founder & CEO
Dane leads business development and capital raising at Markit. Previously, he spent four years as an investment banker advising on M&A and capital raises for early-stage healthcare tech companies. Several of Dane’s clients were strategically focused on helping physician offices improve administrative and operational functions with software. Much of what he learned working with these clients is leveraged in how Markit Medical approaches partnering with physician offices. Dane has an MBA from Chicago Booth.
Lance Larsen, Founder & President
Lance leads the technology team and is in charge of sales and marketing at Markit. In the fall of 2012 Lance founded Cash Medical Processing (CMP), a SaaS product to help anesthesiologists predict and collect self-pay revenue. In late 2014, Lance left his CEO role at CMP in order to pursue what became the beginnings of Markit Medical. Prior to CMP, Lance worked in sales and as a Senior Analyst at Goldman Sachs on the Regulatory Capital team. Lance has an MBA from Chicago Booth.
Josh Izzard, CTO & CIO
Josh leads the technology team at Markit, and oversees software development, manages Markit's data resources, and ensures the company's compliance with IT security requirements. Prior to joining Markit, Josh had a successful career as a a hedge fund manager, serial entrepreneur and angel investor with multiple successful exits in machine learning and artificial intelligence. Josh loves languages - he speaks numerous languages including Turkish and Russian, can program in many more, and trained in piano performance at the Moscow Conservatory of Music. He also holds an MBA from Chicago Booth.
Shareef Ghanem, VP of Strategy
Shareef leads Markit's efforts in value-based models of care. In this capacity, he also leads Markit's efforts in quality measurement and analytics. Prior to joining Markit, Shareef advised private equity firms on regulatory, reimbursement, and commercial strategy as part of Avalere Health's Due Diligence Advisory Group. During that time, he assessed new public and private alternative payment models and their impact on healthcare businesses. Shareef is currently pursuing his MBA at Chicago Booth.
Nisha Dholakia, Director of Physician & Patient Success
Nisha leads clinical operations and is responsible for physician/patient engagement at Markit. Her career began at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in NYC where she held positions in physician practice management and healthcare billing & insurance. Nisha holds an MS in Health Communications from Northwestern University. She is passionate about increasing information transparency and helping physicians provide quality, innovative healthcare.
Christy Byrer, Senior Sales Specialist
Christy is responsible for introducing Markit Medical to physicians in the greater Chicagoland area. Prior to joining she was in Pharmaceutical Sales for 15 years and worked for both AstraZeneca and NovoNordisk, during which she launched multiple cardiovascular and diabetes products and specialized in outstanding customer service and demonstrated consistent sales performance throughout her tenure in the industry. Christy has a Bachelor of Science in Health Planning and Administration from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana.
